Garmin has released two product with same name Garmin 405. Some people confuse what the difference between two products. The only difference i know that the Garmin 405CX have heart rate track rate when calculating calories. This feature will give more accurate information about caloric burned. Meanwhile, the standard Garmin 405 uses user profile and distance/speed. I must admit that the calorie count in Garmin 405CX is really low but otherwise they both did great for tracking heart rate, mileage, etc. Here i will give you the full comparison between Garmin 405 and Garmin 405CX.

Based my personal opinion, if you already have Garmin 405, then i don’t suggest you to upgrade. Garmin 405 is enough to track your training. The main difference between two product is only the heart rate based calorie consumption. This feature is not as great as i expected. The calories consumption is not accurate!

The Garmin 405CX is very easy to use. The silver bezel arround the watch is the controller of the watch. You just need to touch the silver bezel to set up the watch. You can Tap, Touch and Hold, Double Press or Scroll the Silver Bezel.

By touch and hold the finger on labeled area, you can switch modes of your watch

By press two finger on two areas, you can turn on the backlight

By press finger to the bezel and drag it arround the bezel, you can select the menu option or to increase and decrease values.

Before you can use Garmin 405CX, you must set up the watch first. Garmin Forerunner 405CX is quite easy to set up. Just follow the user manual to understand how to use this Garmin 405CX watch.
Garmin 405CX control is not like common watch. It don’t have a button. You can control the watch from bezel arround the watch. It’s scroll sensitive, so you can just scroll if you want to select the option. You can just touch 4 bezel of the watch to access the menu or confirm the selection. Several people hate this unit because it bezel touch operation, but i think i don’t have a problem with this. The Bezel touch operation is hassle. I think i have a solution for this. Just lock the screen into a view when you starts running, so you don’t hassle with the touch thing again. I think this is good solution and that what i always do all the time.
There are several setting you must set up, like Time Format, Timezone, Gender, Birthday, Gender, Height, Weight, etc. If you first time use watch that use bezel, maybe you just familiarize first. Learn how to control the watch by this first set up.
